COMMUNITY AFFAIRS UPDATE
We’re making a difference in so many ways
Children's Christmas Drive
Please help us fill containers with small gifts for children in need. Look for the plastic containers at the courts. Diane Ballard is collecting our donations and will coordinate a volunteer group to deliver everything before Christmas.
Here’s what we need for children ages 1-17: toys, coloring books, crayons, books, stuffed animals, etc. You do not have to buy new items – just make sure they look like "something Santa would bring."
If you have questions, please ask Diane Ballard or Lois Kumerow.
Here’s another opportunity to help this season. You will see a container at the courts for blankets and socks that we are collecting for the homeless. We need gently used items or new ones – your choice – for men, women and children.
Please talk with Pat Suwalski or Sue List, if you are interested in helping us.
Second Sunday Marketplace Parking Guides
A BIG thank you to all the volunteers who helped in November: Dan Gotti, Steve Greer, Mark Hildebrand, Butch Holmberg, Sil Mariano, and Steve Merkovich.
Several couples have volunteered in December. Give them a wave when you go to the market December 10.
If you want to know more about this volunteer service, please contact Lois Kumerow, (602) 350-0458.
Alzheimer's Walk at Palo Verde
Thanks to all who volunteered to bring some sunshine to residents at Palo Verde in November. Our wonderful volunteers joined residents for a short walk on the grounds, followed by a light lunch and time to visit. What a gift for all involved.
Want to get involved in your community?
When pickleballers aren’t on the courts, oftentimes we’re volunteering time and services for activities and events throughout Westbrook Village and in the valley. It’s part of our Community Affairs Committee mission to identify ways members can give back to their community and help their neighbors.
If you want to know about upcoming volunteer activities, contact Lois Kumerow, (602) 350-0458.
